Welcome to Denmark's Largest Commercial Port

The Port of Tomorrow

A broad political majority in the Aarhus City Council has approved an expansion of the Port of Aarhus. This paves the way for the best opportunities for progress and development for Danish businesses and for the entire country.

The upcoming port expansion will be built gradually as needed and will ultimately consist of 84 hectares of new waterfront port areas. The future also includes a new Dry Port in Harlev, west of Aarhus, which will function as an efficient logistics center.

With the port expansion, we are also creating a new nature and biodiversity area where city residents can get up close to the harbor and the water.

History of the Port of Aarhus

Our history stretches far back to 1854 when the port emerged from the river and became Port of Aarhus. Much has happened over the years. Port of Aarhus has gradually evolved both in terms of area and business. This development has always been driven by the needs of the industry and a belief in the future. As the harbor has grown, so has Aarhus, becoming the city we experience today.

Today, Port of Aarhus is Denmark's largest commercial port with connections to most parts of the world. Every year, over 10 million tons of goods are shipped through its docks. This achievement is not coincidental but rather the result of visionary decisions made over time.
