The Port of Aarhus increases container turnover in the first quarter of 2025

The first quarter of 2025 was a positive one for Denmark's largest commercial port.
A total of 170,927 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) were handled at the Port of Aarhus during the first three months of 2025.
This marks a noticeable increase compared to the same period in 2024, which, however, was also impacted by challenges and unrest in the Red Sea.
Overall, the Port of Aarhus has seen an increase of more than nine percent in TEU volume in the first quarter of the year.
"I am pleased that, together with Danish businesses and the companies operating at the port, we are delivering growth in container turnover. This is particularly significant given the current situation, where geopolitical uncertainty is intensifying and global trade is undergoing major changes," says Thomas Haber Borch, CEO of the Port of Aarhus, who expects the coming months to be highly unpredictable:
"The months ahead will be very unpredictable, but we are in a good position with efficient and competitive operations. We have also established new container routes with some of the world's largest shipping companies, which strengthens the business opportunities at the port."
In the first quarter, a total of 108 container vessels called at the container terminal in Aarhus, which is operated by APM Terminals.
In 2024, a total of 659,886 TEU were handled at the Port of Aarhus. Over the past 10 years, the port has seen container volumes grow by more than 35 percent.
