First container ship arrives at the Port of Aarhus on new direct MSC route between Aarhus and Asia

MSC Auriga arrived at the Port of Aarhus on the morning of Wednesday, April 9.
The containership was the first to arrive at the Port of Aarhus on a brand-new direct route between Aarhus and Asia, established by MSC. On the new route, MSC will call at the Port of Aarhus once a week.
“Our first standalone call in Aarhus marks a milestone for MSC Denmark, reinforcing our commitment to the Danish market and its vital role in global trade. This direct service enhances connectivity for Danish businesses, providing a fast, more reliable link to key Asian markets while supporting the growth of the Port of Aarhus and the wider business community,” says Søren Jacobsen, Managing Director at MSC Denmark.

The Port of Aarhus is pleased with MSC’s commitment to Aarhus and the new direct route to Asia, which, according to Aarhus Port CEO Thomas Haber Borch, enhances opportunities for Danish businesses.
"I am both pleased and proud that with the arrival of the first MSC container ship, we can officially mark the opening of a new direct route between Aarhus and Asia. This strengthens supply chain security and our global route network, offering even more opportunities for Danish businesses — which, in the end, benefits us all," says Thomas Haber Borch.
MSC Denmark has its headquarters at the port in Aarhus, and last year, the MSC Group’s container terminal operator, Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), signed an agreement with the Port of Aarhus to lease 170,000 square meters of space, where they plan to establish and operate their own container terminal. The terminal is expected to be developed by 2027, after which TiL will be able to begin operations in the area.
